“For look, the wicked bend their bows; they set their arrows against the strings to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart. When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?” Psalm 11:2-3
Do you ever feel like evil arrows are coming at you from all directions? Morals are turned upside down and many don’t think God and the church are important anymore. Christian families are seeing their children or grandchildren deceived by Satan’s lies. The government tries to take more control of our lives and we struggle to hold on to our Constitutional freedoms. Some days I feel like the foundations of life as we knew it are crumbling.
Praise be to God!
“But God hasn’t moved to the mountains; his holy address hasn’t changed. He’s in charge, as always, his eyes taking everything in, his eyelids unblinking, examining Adam’s flesh and blood inside and out, not missing a thing. He tests the good and the bad alike; if anyone cheats, God’s outraged. Fail the test and you’re out, out in a hail of firestones, drinking from a canteen filled with hot desert wind. God’s business is putting things right; he loves getting the lines straight, setting us straight. Once we’re standing tall, we can look him straight in the eye” (Psalm 11:4-6 The Message).
The Psalmist encourages me by writing about his struggles and ultimately his reliance on God. God was his refuge, fortress, strength, rock, and deliverer! We, as God’s people worship and serve the same God David worshiped. We must never forget His power and authority over the universe.
My prayer list is long. I agonize over the wrongs of the world and the wayward souls caught in Satan’s trap. But pray, I must! I cannot let my reliance on God waver. I, too, am subject to Satan’s temptations so I must guard my heart.
Dear friend, take heart. God is still in charge.
“I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies” (Psalm 18:1-3 NIV)
