When I think about a warm fuzzy I think of something that warms my heart and not my body. Allow me to tell you about a “warm fuzzy” I experienced recently.

While in Tennessee helping my daughter as she recuperates from ankle surgery, I was standing in line at a grocery store waiting longer than I like. This was a couple days before the extra cold and snow and ice predictions were all over the East. So you can imagine the crowd at the store filling their carts with whatever they might need in a storm.  I was picking up a few extra things my daughter thought they might need if they got snowed/iced in. We had already been shopping and filled her cart earlier.  In front of me was a mom with four boys. The oldest looked to be a teenager and the youngest six or seven yrs old.

The mom was managing the boys quite well as we all waited our turn. Suddenly, the youngest boy walked up and asked to hug me. I assured him I loved hugs but was having a hard time returning the hug due the items in my arms. Such a sweet gesture for a young child. My guess is this mom has taught her boys to respect others and especially older people. I was quite moved by his hug. It was definitely a “warm fuzzy” to me.

It was so much easier to wait the next few minutes to get checked out. It isn’t often I have a child hug me at the grocery store or anywhere else other than at church or school.  That was a wonderful feeling for me, definitely, a “warm fuzzy.”

God has also left many “warm fuzzies” throughout His Word. He gives us many promises that fill us with peace and gratitude. One of my favorites is Romans 8:38.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Enjoy basking in the warmth of God’s love! Nothing can separate you from His love. Not even freezing temperatures!
