“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint”

 (Isaiah 40: 29-31).

Do you feel weary? Feeling tired is a part of life and being in my 80s I feel it more. The Lord does give strength to the weary, but I also think we may need to adjust what we do. Even in our work for God, we become weary and even feel we want to give up. I have felt that way.

The Apostle Paul reminds us in Galatians 6:9, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

I do not want to give up, but I have made some adjustments to my service for the Lord. I have stepped away from Children’s ministry to work with our Missions Team. At this season of life, I enjoy this more and of course it takes less physical energy. Thankfully, God has blessed me with a good mind and computer skills that allow me to communicate easily with the missionaries our church supports.

There are many ways to “do good”. Every child of God has been given gifts of service. So, if you are feeling weary or burned out in your present work, look around for another way to serve. Become a prayer warrior, become that person who calls or visits the dear folks who can’t get out to church services, make lunch for an elderly neighbor, or do whatever it is that God is calling you to do. You may realize God is renewing your strength and allowing you to soar like an eagle in your service to our Creator God!

“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers” (Galatians 6:10).
